What do guests think about this lodging establishment?

The accommodation received mixed feedback from reviewers. Some guests had positive experiences, praising the friendly and efficient staff, as well as the hotel's excellent location, cleanliness, and elegant rooms. These guests found no negative aspects to mention. However, other guests expressed concerns. They mentioned a small room size, marks on the carpet and walls, overpriced drinks at the bar, and a not-so-great breakfast experience with long queues and lukewarm food. There were also issues with room allocation, including a twin room instead of a double for a couple with a baby, and the late and inadequate delivery of a travel cot. The hotel's car park was described as expensive and tight. One reviewer had a disappointing experience with a poorly maintained room and encountered unhelpful staff.

    Great central location.
    kevin - Oct 5, 2021

Hotel mercure Grand is in a good location the the centre of Bristol.
The room was on the small side, some marks on carpet and walls. Comfortable bed.
Drinks in the bar very overpriced.
Breakfast was not great. Only one drinks (tea/coffee) machine in restaurant, so constant queues.
The buffet was not very hot.

    Terrible Service and Room
    Jith - Aug 12, 2021

Issues arised from the moment we entered the hotel.
We arrived at 330pm and our room was not ready (check in was advertised as 12pm).
We entered the bedroom to find that it was a twin bedroom not a standard double. This was not good as we had a 10month old baby that would be sharing our bed. We asked for a change of room but was fully booked.
A travel cot was arranged as an alternative. The cot arrived at 9pm, well after our little ones bedtime and arrived without a mattress and a full size pillow. It was as if the team had no idea that a pillow that large could suffocate a child that young and that babies needed a mattress to sleep on, like we all do.
Asked for the mattress got given a fitted topper instead. Informed reception of the issues they could not care less. Seemed happy to send us on our way.
Absolute Shambles and no attempt at even a apology

    Saturday night stay
    Michael - Nov 3, 2020

We've stayed here a few times as the location is great. However, trying to reach it this time was difficult as the road system in the centre of Bristol has changed yet again.
The hotel's car park next door is expensive & very tight especially if you're driving an SUV.
