An "OK" hotel in Vedado, Havana
    Elgin Hero - Jan 14, 2017

The hotel location is not the best, although it's by the Malecon main road so you can travel to nearby districts such as Habana Vieja, but would cost you taxi fares from 15-20 CUC each way, each time. The hotel is situated to a very residential section, so there's not much happening there other than few local pubs and restaurants - which is ok if you want to immerse to local (but modern) living of citizens. There's not much historical or cultural highlights to be found in the area nearby.

The best service we got is from Michael and Francisco, both are bellhoppers but great solution finders for you if you need anything, from show tickets, restaurant suggestions or changing money. They are truly sincere and very friendly! Big thanks to them.

The hotel facilities and room conditions need some improvement, considering the price per night. The bed linens have a bit of moldy smell, and the rooms can be made nicer. Internet is by card, which costs 2 CUC per hour usage. The hotel also doesn't have sufficient CUC to exchange for foreigners, and although they advertise to accept VISA, they do not do so for all purchases, such as internet cards.

The breakfast buffet is not bad, but again considering the high price (perhaps because we stayed there during the new year's), I think the food offerings can be done better. Bottled water is expensive.

If there are hotels available in the old town, Habana Vieja, I would recommend to get a hotel there instead.
